Conducted by Challenger TAFE Centre for Adult Education, our eighth workshop in the series entitled "Basics of Bonsai" began on the warm, late spring day of Saturday 27th of November 2004 with the unpacking of the usual myriad of items at the Heathcote Artist's Precinct venue. 

TAFE staff member Clarice joined our group for the day and contributed her assistance in many ways - thanks Clarice!

Participants chose a tree from the large variety of species available including English Box, Cypress, Camellia and Port Jackson Figs. Thought and planning was put into the achievement of the desired result.

Everyone had the opportunity to take away extra soils, gravels and plant cuttings.

Thanks to Gay, our assistant for these photographs.  In a Basics of Bonsai workshop we transform ordinary garden stock into beautiful healthy Bonsai.  With ongoing care, these specimens will continue to thrive and improve in their individual forms.
