workshops are held at the Fremantle Sailing Club and run from 10.00 am
until around 3.00 pm. On completion a Certificate of Achievement is
presented to each attendee.

Bonsai
1 - Introduction to Bonsai Cultivation

Prerequisite: Basic gardening knowledge or the interest to learn.

Bring your own (BYO) class is designed to help you care for your Bonsai
during the hot summer months. In this workshop we shape, prune,
wire
and repot trees as needed. We can design Bonsai from the start
and
we can repair damaged styles. The package includes:

to create your own Bonsai from cuttings, seed germination, grafting and
layering. You will have at least ten different species of tree
and
10 pots of seeds and cuttings to take home. We cover all aspects
of germination and long term care. The package includes:

Bonsai on Slate

Prerequisite: Completion of Bonsai 1 workshop or a good knowledge of
Bonsai techniques.

course consists of two parts. Planting a Bonsai on slate for
permanent growth and learning to create jinn or driftwood (dead wood)
on living conifer tree. All trees and slate are supplied.
Part 1: Bonsai on Slate

9 – Nursery Hunt

Part
1: A Saturday
9.00
am – 12.00 noon, Free get together hosted by Liana Kopp with the
aim of learning what to look for in Bonsai stock when shopping in
retail garden centres. Each registered participant will receive a
‘Treasure Hunt’ notes set when we meet at a designated nursery –
location revealed upon enrolment. The plan will contain a guide
to follow with the aim of finding suitable planting
stock.
Part
2: A Saturday two weeks later (for the planting of Bonsai)

am – 3.30 pm Fremantle Sailing Club
Bonsai
preparation and potting. In this part we construct Bonsai using
the trees purchased at the garden centres. The format is similar
to Bonsai 4 Bring Your Own style.
Bonsai 10 – BYO
Winter Care of Bonsai

Prerequisite: Completion of Bonsai 1 Workshop or knowledge of Bonsai.
