Cultivation - Adaptable to most soil conditions. Frost and drought resistant, flowers late summer in full sun conditions. This month’s Bonsai is an Australian species tree planted in a natural bush setting with grasses, bamboo and ground cover.
Also known as the Firewheel Tree due to it’s colourful and complex blooms, Stenocarpus sinuatus originates in the rainforests of Australia. Belonging to the Proteacea Family, it is sensitive to Phosphorus fertilizer so choose fertilizers such as Seasol, Power Feed and Fish Emulsion. It will thrive with minimum feeding and maximum water and sunshine.
Your Firewheel Bonsai will have large leaves with glossy finish, highlighted with pink and mauve colour and is evergreen. Leaf size can be reduced with regular trimming.
