A high pressure ridge is building to the south of the state with a surface
trough developing near the west coast.
Forecasts:
Monday until midnight: E/SE winds 8/13 knots, tending S/SW 13/18 knots in the
early afternoon and S'ly 18/23 knots during the afternoon. Winds returning E/SE
10/15 knots towards midnight. Seas rising to 1.5m. Swell to 1.5m.
Swell at Cottesloe: to 0.4m.
Winds on Melville Water: E/SE winds 8/13 knots, tending S/SW 13/18 knots during
the afternoon. Winds returning E'ly 10/15 knots towards midnight.
Tuesday: E/SE winds 15/20 knots easing to 10/15 knots during the morning. Winds
tending S/SE 15/20 knots in the afternoon. Winds south of Rottnest tending E/SE
20/25 knots towards midnight. Seas to 1.5m. Swell to 1.5m.
Wednesday: E/SE winds 20/25 knots. Winds easing to 15/20 knots during the
morning and 10/15 knots around midday. Afternoon winds tending S/SE 15/20 knots.

NOTES ON THE WEATHER FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIA

SYNOPTIC SITUATION AND FORECAST EXPLANATION:
A high pressure ridge is building to the south of the state with a surface
trough developing near the west coast. Isolated showers or drizzle along the
south coast east of Albany, clearing western parts during the morning. Isolated
showers and thunderstorms in the northern Kimberley, western inland Pilbara, and
NW Kimberley.
FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS:
The surface trough deepens during Tuesday, with rising temperatures in northern
districts and some isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms over
inland western areas of the Pilbara, central parts of the Gascoyne and adjacent
Central West. Isolated morning drizzle about the Eucla coast. For the remainder
of the outlook period expect isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far
northern Kimberley, mainly in the afternoon and evening.
During Wednesday the surface trough broadens with isolated showers and
thunderstorms possible over central and northern parts of the SW Land Division,
inland western Pilbara, Gascoyne, and Goldfields. Isolated morning drizzle in
the eastern Eucla.
On Thursday the surface trough will lie over the SW Land Division. Isolated
afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms in central and northern parts of
the SW Land Division, SW Goldfields, and the western Gascoyne.
