Synoptic Situation
Another cold front will move through Perth this evening.
Forecasts:
Wednesday until midnight: W'ly winds 15/20 knots, increasing to 20/25 knots in
the afternoon and reaching W/SW 20/30 towards evening. Seas 1.5m to 2.5m. Swell
3.0m to 4.0m.
Swell at Cottesloe: to1.3m.
Winds on Melville Water: Similar, though up to 5 knots lighter in the afternoon.
Thursday: SW winds 18/23 knots easing to SE'ly 13/18 knots by sunrise. Winds
tending S/SW 10/15 knots in the afternoon. Seas easing to 1.0m to 1.5m. Swell to
3.5m.
Friday: SE/NE winds 5/10 knots tending S/SW 8/13 knots in the afternoon.
Current Swell Observations:
Rottnest Waverider Buoy: 3.0m.
Cottesloe Waverider Buoy: 0.9m.

NOTES ON THE WEATHER FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIA

SYNOPTIC SITUATION AND FORECAST EXPLANATION:
A westerly flow persists over southern parts of the state, with another cold
front expected move along the south coast later in the day. Isolated showers are
forecast over the SW Land Division, increasing over areas southwest of a line
Perth to Bremer Bay during the afternoon and evening as the front moves through.
Expect squally conditions along the western south coast with the passage of the
front. Isolated light showers over the southern and western Gascoyne and
southwest Goldfields should mostly clear by the afternoon.
In the north, isolated showers and thunderstorms will continue over the central
Kimberley and northeast Kimberley. Middle level cloud will thicken over the
eastern Pilbara during the day, with isolated light showers possible later this
evening.
FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS:
On Thursday the cold front will weaken and move into the Bight as a ridge
develops just to the north of the south coast. Isolated showers throughout the
SW Land Division, tending scattered about the southeast coast in the morning.
Showers will contract to the south coast by the afternoon. A band of isolated
showers and thunderstorms are expected in the northeast interior and far
northeast Pilbara.
On Friday a ridge of high pressure will lie just to the south of Perth. Isolated
showers are forecast about south coast parts during the morning, contracting to
the southwest coast during the afternoon. Isolated showers and thunderstorms
should continue through the central interior and southern inland parts of the
Pilbara, reaching the coast in the evening.
On Saturday another cold front will approach the southwest of the state with
isolated showers about west coastal parts extending to southwest of a line
Jurien Bay to Lake Grace in the afternoon. Showers will become scattered near
the south coast in the afternoon and evening. Isolated showers and thunderstorms
will continue through the southwest Pilbara, northeast Gascoyne and the
Interior, tending scattered in the afternoon.
